VPN Uses for Secured CLOUD

Secured Cloud VPN

Virtual Private Network, or VPNs, refers to a secured internet connection that helps encrypt and protect your online identity and activities when accessing the internet through a public network.

Since using an unsecured network connection can expose you to anyone looking to steal your personal information, a VPN can be an invaluable tool to protect yourself and the networks you use to work and play.

VPN uses have become more pronounced in the last two years. As many businesses continue letting their employees work from home, the importance of maintaining network security remains more important than ever.

Because many companies have been making more use of the cloud to archive work data, VPNs provide a safe and secure way for employees to maintain their own levels of personal work comfort without compromising the integrity of their employer’s networks.

Cloud VPN

Having a work computer does not mean you have a secure connection to the office networks. Just because you can still access some of the programs you use every day from home doesn’t mean you automatically get access to the company’s server. And if you’re going to work remotely, you need access to that network.

Don’t confuse a cloud VPN with a standard VPN, though. The standard VPN requires the program’s infrastructure on your computer or a mobile device. In a sense, a standard VPN functions like any other phone application; unless you’ve got it on your device, you can’t use it.

But a cloud VPN allows the user to create between user devices and the virtual private cloud, or VPC, set up for your home office. Think of it like a virtual string connected between all devices in your office, and every piece of information that runs along that string has been encrypted for maximum protection.

Types of Cloud VPN

There are two main categories of cloud VPNs presently available: the client cloud, and the network cloud.

Network Cloud

This type of cloud VPN works best for creating information roadways between the cloud network and the company’s home network.

Client Cloud VPN (Remote Access)

This type allows IP addresses from outside the network to make a connection to the company’s network.

Encryption and Security

The information shared on a cloud VPN works on the same principle as an encoded message: the information from one user gets encrypted before traveling along the connection line to its destination, as which point the information gets decrypted for anyone with network access to that information.

Additionally, certain cloud VPN offerings allow the users to connect with a secure connection, providing another line of data security that a regular internet connection cannot supply.

Finally, the remote access previously mentioned offers peace of mind for any company that has employees remotely, either at home or out in the field. The cloud VPN’s ability to let its users adapt to new environments and working situations without compromising security or user integrity makes VPN a valuable tool.
